Your Instructor
Tonya currently serves as the Diversity Director at Anthem, Inc., the parent company of Anthem Blue Cross
& Blue Shield of Georgia. In this role, Tonya leads enterprise strategy and has direct oversight for the
planning, coordination and implementation of diversity, inclusion, related programs, and activities.
Additionally, Tonya owns the enterprise strategy and execution for Anthem’s Associate Resource Groups
and the executive Diversity Council. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Alcorn State
University and is certified in performance consulting. In 2018, Tonya received her Diversity and Inclusion
designation from Cornell University.
Tonya joined Anthem in 1994 and has been afforded a very rewarding career marked by one of extensive
development and application, having served in a number of individual contributor and leadership roles
throughout Learning & Development, Human Resources, and Service Operations. Prior to her current role,
Tonya served as the Director of Learning, leading the development and deployment of learning and
performance solutions for service operations.
Tonya is a past recipient of the ISPI “Award of Excellence” for outstanding Human Performance intervention for the Associate
Career Development Program at BlueCross BlueShield of Georgia and received the ISPI “Award of Excellence” a second time for
“Outstanding Instructional Product or Intervention”. She is an active board member for the 501(c)3 “House of Grace”, a locally
based transitional home for women and children victimized by domestic violence. In 2019, Tonya launched her own consulting firm
DBA Premier Learning, Consulting and Staffing.
Tonya resides in Marietta, Georgia. She and her husband Vincent are the proud parents of two daughters, Aja and Ajoi and one
son, Darvin. Her evenings and weekends are spent engaging in community service activities through her sorority and spending
quality time with family and friends. Digital scrapbooking and mommy/daughter time are among her favorite personal pastimes.
